Default Hardtop for new S2000

I'm buying a new S2000, and want the hardtop, but am not getting it from the dealer b/c I think the price is too high. They are telling me their costs are in the $3400-3600 range. I can find hardtops on eBay. I've found one from a 2002 model, but don't know whether it would fit my 2006. I've also found carbon fiber hardtops for sale on eBay, but haven't checked on rear window differences or mounting. I'd appreciate any advice on hardtops, mixing years, installation HW kits, opinions on aftermarket carbon-fiber tops, etc.

Hardtopguy (Jeff) just did a group buy/purchase of hard tops within the past couple of months. I know because I got one and it's currently on my car. However, I don't know if this was a one time deal or if he is going to have them regularly available again or not. Best to check with him and find out.

This is the only way to go. Best service out there. Don't risk getting one from ebay. Especially for that dollar amount. Not worth the risk. Trust me.

I'd have to agree $2500+ is pretty top dollar. Best I have found is a local dealer willing to sell it for $2950 out th door. HT guy is the cheapest but after shipping the local dealer saves me about $300.

I saw a post on S2ki about Flag Staff Honda selling them for $2500 shipped. They had terrible eBay feedback but the forums spoke highly of them.

With the install kit I payed roughly $3200 from Hardtop guy. Not having to worry about my investment coming in looking like this:

PRICELESS

exactly and ive def. seen other times where its been around that. i wouldnt even mind buying it used in excelent condition. the point is i want one but i can only spend so much on one part above that i cant help but think that the money is better spent elsewhere. for me at least.

All i'm saying is that I would rather order it from the Hardtop Guy due to the shipping. The damn truck came right to my door and wheeled it in my garage, in the Honda box. If you order it from someone, make sure they crate it.The glass is expensive.

He called me on my cell to let me know that the hardtop was on its way and also provided his if there were any problems and gave me updates when I asked through email.

Sorry, I don't get paid to advertise for HT Guy. Yet, when I have a good experience through a vendor, a rarirty in itself, i'm gonna stand behind them. I had a great experience through them and i'm sorry yours was' nt the same.

Just got an email from Jeff at hardtopguy.com. He said he has them in stock. Would be $3200 shipped to me. I can get a carbon fiber top for less, but would need to get it painted my color or have a friend help me do it.

Anyone got opinions on aftermarket CF tops vs factory-style with glass window & defogger?

BTW is it easy to remove or reinstall the soft top? Haven't got my shop manual yet.
