Default bucket seats, harness bar, roll cage need info

i did search but didnt find a good discussion on it .

heres the senario ,

i have a 95 accord and im looking to get a pair of fixed buckets (for weight savings and little more *** grip) .

this car is a daily driver and does see the strip as well as autox and mabye some time trials on road course .

heres the issue , sometimes my kids have to ride in the car (4door) and my biggest concern is that buy putting a harness bar back there , if there ever was a collision then it would be the first thing they would hit and i just cant have that .

so the questions are

1. will the stock seat belts work with a fixed back bucket (think low profile sides of the mugen buckets)
i have thick legs so the buckets with high sides are uncomfortable for me .

2. cant the stock belts be used through the slots on the sides . and is it safe .

thanks guys

You might have better luck with this question in the road race / autox forum. But, you'll also get told how bad it is to have a harness and fixed back bucket without rollover protection on a road course. I would be willing to take that risk, but you'll have to make that choice for yourself. There are also some who will tell you how unsafe having a fixed back bucket is, even with stock belts, without rollover protection, because it won't break at the adjuster like a factory seat will if the roof caves in.

You should be able to use the stock belt with a bucket seat, without going through the holes in the side ofthe seat. Just go over the sides, your thighs should be slightly higher than the side bolsters.

For using a harness & bucket, you can either use a harness that attaches to the factory rear seatbelt mounts, and disconnect it between events for use of the back seat, mount a harness bar, or a full on rollbar.

I wouldn't use the backseat with a rollbar though, and I would seriously look at the distance you have in the back with a harness bar before you put anyone back there. The Sparco bar attaches to the lower and upper front seat belt mounts and only goes back a little, but I've seen some that push much further back into the rear seat area and tie into the rear seat upper seatbelt mounts, and you don't want metal bars around your rear passenger's heads. Keep in mind, the back of the front seats are padded beause the seat belts can stretch enough for someone back there to hit the front seat.

And people wonder why I like coupes... But I also don't have kids.

thakns man . good info . it sucks but for saftys sake i might stick with a stock honda seat like delsol or some usdm type R if there not to heavy . corbeau has some recliners in around the 19 pound range so i might look into them as well .

thanks again

i cant go into the road race /autox caus emy flame suit is out getting drycleaned lol , i just wish some of them remeber how it was to not have a huge budget . there very quick to judge/make fun of
