Default HF swap into DX?

I'm due for a motor (using a quart every 50 miles!) and want to upgrade while doing so, what better upgrade is 50-60mpg? Any information on this swap? I assume it's direct bolt-in, but i'm looking for anything i should look out for. The picture i saw of the engine shows it isn't TBI like the DX engine, so i assume just a wiring harness and HF ECU should make me good to go?

dude dont put an hf into your car...you would have to chage over to mpfi (wiring) and you would loose engine power (the hf is about 75hp +or-) just to save on gas, i wouldnt do it...you'd be better off to get another dx block, but if you set on a swap and are down to change your dual point fuel injection(dpfi) to multi point fuel injection....atleast throw in an si motor

I couldn't care less about power, it's my daily driver, i don't think i'd notice a power decrease anyway, it's dog **** slow as-is.

If your goal is to save money, get another DX motor, and reuse as many of the original parts as possible. You won't see that much improvement in mileage. Not enough to make up for the cost and the trouble of swapping an HF.

That's why i'm asking about the swap, to my understanding it'll be about the same as another DX minus wiring and ECU, i want to be corrected if my understanding is wrong.

if you wanted to go to an hf motor you would need to chage some wires goin into you ecu harness and add some more wires for the fuel injection/resistor box

if you are looking for max mpg you would have to swap in a hf motor & ecu, redo your wiring to mpfi, and score a hf tranny for the longer gears. if you swap the tranny also i believe that the dx had different hubs than the si/hf so that would have to be considered also. so for max mpg's, your best bet may be to sell the dx if the shells good, and buy a clean hf. or just do what hatchinprogress said. mpg should be 40+. before i swaped in a b16a, my si pulled out 40mpg if driven right. dx should be better.

No its the STD/HF models that have different hubs then the SI/DX/LX/EX models..

To the og poster I would just get another D15b2/1 motor and swap it in..And maybe convert the D15b1/2 to mpfi and get a pm6 ecu but get a hf tranny..Theres little things with the hf ecu that make it a pain in the ***..

Isn't the STD and DX the same thing? Just brainstorming an engine swap, i want to gain something if i'm doing the work, i prefer it be gas mileage since it's a daily driver.

No they're different..STD only comes 4 spd manual, has like 70 hp..DX comes 5spd manual and auto..and has about 90hp..DX has bigger brakes..and has different hubs then the std..STd has the vinyl seats and no passenger side mirror..Std has no shitfer console..Funny though my old std had factory A/C ..

Well, i guess i have an STD then, it came up as a DX when i insured it. Hasport lists them as a "DX/STD", that's why i assumed that.
