Exhaust Questions
Alright, I just finished installing my AEM V2 air intake. All went fine and it looks great and when I cranked it up it purred like dream. But after shutting it down I noticed that my exhaust is expelling oil, or some liquid. Is this normal and will it stop eventually.
There's nothing that the installation of a CAI would do to cause an engine to start using oil. The liquid you're seeing at the exhaust pipe is water which has condensed on the inside of the cold exhaust pipes (from the engine being off). The water vapor is actually a byproduce of burning Hydrocarbons (you're adding a free oxygen atom to the hydrogen molecule thus H2O (two atoms Hydrogen, one atom Oxygen). It's present whenever the engine runs, but is only visible as condensation as it flows from the pipe. Once the exhause heats up: no more condensation.
Ever wonder why OEM mufflers come with a small hole on the end cap near the bottom? Water drainage. You don't want water pooling inside the muffler. it will promote rust-out.
The fluid is dark colored (as it drips) because it's mixed with soot, a product of the rich cold-start condition.

Nothing Noob about it. You're not going to know if you're not going to ask.
The mark of a true Noob is the one that accepts things on face value without questioning why; and represents urban legend as fact.
A true Noob is a cinch to spot.
You haven't come across as one.... (Yet)
don't be shy

like other said, its nothing to worry about. But the only thing is, a car can burn too gas or too little gas. This is running rich or lean. I believe that you can tell by the color of the smoke that comes out of the exhaust, someone correct me on this. One thing i know how to tell is if i'm losing gas mileage NOT due to the fact you want to hear your intake..-= )
The only possible indicator from the exhaust would be a super-rich condition, and it would be indicated by heavy soot deposits near the exhaust tip (bumper cover etc). There would be other indicators which would sound off far earlier than the soot (CE Light) you'd have all manner of codes for a/f out of range and Converter efficiency; and it would run like absolute Cra..p.
Basically exhaust tell-tales are:
White Smole (steam) - Fast dispersal
White Smoke (sweet odor) - Burning Antifreeze (blown head gasket / internal engine coolant leak
Grey Smoke (accrid odor) - Burning Engine oil (worn / stuck rings, worn valve guides)
and of course soot
