battery charging
hey guys
my battery is relatively new (3 weeks) and i didnt ride the bike for 3 days (03 RR) and now it wont start. i can tell its a battery problem because the time resets itself.
how long do you have to let hte bike sit before it discharges itself like that?
i also went over a big pot hole if that matters..

I doubt the battery could have completely discharged in 3 days time. More likely it was never fully charged when you purchased it. Try bringing it up to a full charge and see if the problem occurs.
Otherwise, I would suspect a RR failure.

since bikes dont have typical alternators they have stators they have to be over about 5,000 rpm to keep the battery charged other wise it just keeps draining the battery.
try this http://forums.cbrworld.net/for....aspx it might help you fix that problem.

im reading on here that the alternator doesnt start charging til the bike is over 5000rpm? is that right???? or simply the rotor is going 5000rpm?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question.
What I've been told is that you need to vary the RPMs in order to be charging the system. Keeping a constant rpm will not sufficiently charge the battery (again, from what I've heard).
