Default Wet Sanding Dull Headlights?

I have heard of people wet sanding headlights to offset dullness and foggyness that comes with age. My question is does this work on clear plastic as well or just glass? The reasone I ask is because I need a set of Mugen headlight covers for my Prelude and there is a set on Ebay that is dull and not in the best condition. Now if I can get them to look half way decent then it would probably be worth it for me to pick them up. Thanks in advance.

Yeah sanding works on glass and plastic. Just make sure you pick up some Meguires Plastic X and some 3M rubbing compound to make the lights clear again after you sand them. Oh yeah and make sure you use 1000 1500 and 2000 grit to get it the clearest possible.

from MY experience, i wetsanded plastic eg headlights and it DID NOT come out that great... now the lense is kind of foggy from the sandpaper, i wish i wouldve just left em alone... i used 2000 grit with every type of liquid possible... and the outcome wasnt great... i used plastic polish, aluminum polish, etc...

on the other hand, i believe if u run it on a REAL buffing machine, it would come out immaculate...

They might come out okay. It just is a matter of patience. If you take youre time and wetsand them the right way, then use the fubbing compound with a buffer ($15 one from walmart works great) and then use the Meguires Plastic X they should come out perfect!

i went 600, 800, to break down the top layer of wear, then 1000, 1500, 2000. all was wet of course. then finished it off with plastix polish with a cotton rag a few times each. looked more clear than new lenses.

Yes you can. Depending on how dull and oxidized the headlights are, start from 600-2000. Wet sand, assuming you know how, horizontally or vertically (pick one and NEVER change direction). After wetsanding all the way to 2000, get some 3M Rubbing Compound Perfect-It II and buff with a random orbial buffer and go over it twice, clean it off, use some Mother's/Meguiars plastic polish, then add some wax.

I've done it on my headlights not too long ago and just did a friends lude headlights today. They look better than brand new

from the picture on that ebay listing, thats how my sanded headlights turned out... i'm gonna try with the 600 and 800 grit... see if the outcome is the same or not
