Default 'CRX - to - Civic' Front End Conversion

I just picked up a 89 hatch for $10....yes $10.00!

Has a little front end damage and 220k on it.

I took off the bumper, fenders, hood, and corner lights....all need to be replaced.

I was gonna do just a whole a JDM front end, but nobody has the complete swap at the moment, or at least have it at a fair price.

Password JDM has a ViS Mugen Style Front Bumper for the CRX. Will it also fit a Civic Hatchback of the same generation?... if not a direct fit, small mod or too much?

You´ll need to mod the civic fenders with the crx fenders...

civics and crx (88-91) are exactly the same from the outside bolt ons to the interior parts....certain parts(like the hatch/trunk for instants) are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE but the front ends are definatly interchangeable.....but if u plan to change the front end i suggest to swap too a new civic/integra front end all that will be needed is.....radiator support,front bumper,hood,hood hinges,headlights,fenders,ect.....but back to ur subject all the parts are interchangeable and sum parts from the older integras also (91-93 i think...)

wow...you couldnt be more wrong.

Hatchs have a filter peice between the bumper and the headlights.
CRX's dont have this filter peice.
In order for the CRX front end to fit you will hve to use CRX fenders
The hood is the same, same with rad support.

So I need...

CRX Bumper
CRX Fenders

...everything else (hood, headlights, corner lights) is Civic. And of course JDM bumper lights at a killing $120.

the more you deal with a civic and a crx you will start to realize that they have alot of things that seem to be the same but are different

the corner lights are not the same and yes they do screw in but then from 90-91 they had a clip to clip in tto do this swap I believe you will need the crx bumber and fenders along witht eh corner lights, you will also have to cut the rex fenders below the moulding and weld on the hatch fender cut at the same place to make sure for proper fitment due to the crx haveing the sideskirt

To get it simple:

-> There are three kind of hoods:

regular USDM one
ZC (side lump)
SIr / i-VT (raised one)

These will fit to what ever fenders you have, and no matter if you have a civic or crx the hoods will fit both. On the sir hood, when you mount it on a usdm car, you nedd to space the t-bar for the latch to close, or get a new Sir/i-VT t-bar, but spacers are so much cheaper (and ugly..)

-->Fenders
CRX and Civic are different, because of the corner lights shape. also there are diferences in the moldings form 88-89 and 90-91.
Just choose civic or crx, and from there choose the corner lights and moldings acoording to year. See it as a pack. It won't interchange with other years corner lights. Jdm fenders have an extra turn signal on the side and you can get them for whatever car/year you want. (at extra $$$$ outch!) Except from that jdm/usdm fenders are the same.

--> Lights
If you have the Sir / i-Vt hood get the Sir/i-vt lights. Just as simple.

--> Bumper
Depending on the hood/ lights combo get the usdm or sir/iv-t bumpers.
There are both versions for both cars. Usdm/jdm civic and usdm/jdm crx.
Remember the choice you did with the fenders civic or crx and go from there.
Crx bumpers are one part, Civic bumpers are two pieces (bumper / filler).

Not to complicated is it?

So, if that vis bumper is for a CRX you must have crx fenders/corners lights.
If it is for usdm front, you must have usdm lights and hood (or zc hood).
If it is for jdm front you must have jdm (sir/i-vt) lights and hood.

it can't get more simple than that.

If I use the sir/VT front end what bonnet hinges would I need?
