204/40-17 tires with 17x ??? sized rims?

Which size rim would be best for 204/40-17 rims? 17x???, or does it even matter?

I also just wanna make sure if 99-00 civics go on 4x100 lugnut specs

If you mean 205/40-17 tires, they are usually approved for rim widths of 7.0-8.0 inches. So they will work with 17x7, 17x7.5, or 17x8.

and yes 99-00 are 4x100.

Watch the offset of those 17" rims too, but yup 17x7 to 17x8. Generally 17x7" is whats recommended for civics, 40-43 offset I believe is best, but I could be wrong there.
