How long do DC2 LS or GSR Transmissions Last? Might Need a Tranny. Where to Buy?
I did a LS to GSR swap and the GSR transmission I got with the donor engine has a damaged case so I've decided to replace it.
I can either purchase another tranny or use the LS tranny that was originally in the car but it has 110k miles.
Does anyone know how long the LS transmissions last (mileage wise)?
Does anyone know a reputable place to buy either a GSR or Type-R tranny for a reasonable price?
Thanks.

Heads up though if you're not aware. An LS tranny (long gears) on a GSR (VTEC engine for that matter) isn't the best combo.
Just a heads up, it's one of the rare but pretty much agreed upon things on here.
But if you're in a bind and need something, then go ahead I guess!

depneds how you drive for the lifetime on trannies/ and id try to get the tranny from a junk yard
I'd probably get a clutch and flywheel because I plan on turbocharging before swapping the tranny.
Any preventative measures or maintenance I should do on the LS tranny if I end up putting it on the car?

Why dont you just take the gsr case off and put the ls case on the gsr tranny? You said that it was the case on the tranny that was damaged. This way you keep your short gears.

Anyone have a write up on this? How hard is this to do? Any speciality tools needed?

I don't prefer to buy it new because its pretty expensive. On the other hand, used is sometimes unreliable. I guess i'll know when I see it.
