Engine misses over 7000 RPM
I wanted ask if any of you guys have ever experienced a misfire over 7000 RPM. For some reason, there has been a noticable miss over 7000 RPM, usually in 2 or 3 gear. I noticed it a few months ago, and have been trying to fix it since. I swapped coils and plug wires with a friend of mine, and it was still there. I replaced the distributor cap and rotor, still there. I changed the plugs, still misses. I just put on Magnecor 8.5mm KV85 wires, and you guessed it, it *still* misses. Ive checked all the connections, and everything seems to check out. Really all thats left in the ignition system is the distributor itself, and Im about to go study the ignition section of the Prelude manual again to see if anything there jumps out at me. Anyone else seeing this in their Prelude?
Try to lower the gap of your spark plugs below stock specs. You may want to try someone else's ignitor. Check if the ecu ground is secure. Have fun, I am in a similar boat.....
Are you sure it is a miss electrically? Check your oil level, vtec will not function properly if oil is low. hope that helps.
When the gas tank is really low, I have the problem where it feels like the fuel cuts out around 7k. Feels just like the real rev limiter. Even had it cut out before 7k a couple of times, so now I try not to run the tank so empty anymore....
