valve problems
ok, i still CAN NOT ******* FIGURE OUT what is wrong with my car,
its not rob knock,
its coming from the head.
i changed the head,
its making the same sound
the only thing i used from my old head was the rocker arms,
i noticed they were numbered, i have 6 number 4's and 2 numbers 2's.
are the rocker arms differant or are they numbered for the expletive of it.
and it ran at one point just fine with them in so i doubt that the problem
so i adjusted the valves. it got better, but its still making that sound.
maybe i adjusted it to the wrong specs seeing how no one told me on here and i had to google it.
so A does anyone know the specs for a valve adjusted for a ZC DOHC
and B does anyone have ANY!!!! clue what else it might be!?

It still might be a bottom end knock? I had the same problem with an ls it sounded like it was the head cuz it was a light knock but it ended up being the rod bearing spun
jilcrx comes thru again!! i say it does sound like it's valves, when you adjusted them.....did you do it when the engine was cold?? also if you need stock valves...i have my valves and springs from my dohc zc (i re-built the motor and used after-market valves/springs)
yea i let the car sit for a day and a half before i adjusted them again. and i changed the head on it and it made the EXACT same sound. but, i sed the same rocker arms, im gonna check it in the morning to see if its not adjusted the same as it was,
i really wish the video would work so i can get the sounds and **** on here
and does anyone know what a spark plug retaining ring is?

i pulled the head once. and replacved it with another one, and i checked the old one and none of those valves were bent.
and its not just one clacking sound, its a lot of clacking sound.
and yea i did just change the timing belt. and the tensioner, and waterpump

it really sounds like rod knock, sorry to say. or, a big or, you could have valves sticking in the open position and when you adjust them, the clearence is wrong.
but it really sounds like rod knock.
good luck

check your oil pressure. If its low then its a bearing. otherwise take off the oil pan and windage tray and see if any rods can wigle back and forth. A rod will move side to side but it shoudnt move back and fourth.
the rods were fine....
im running out of options,
i really think i messed up the timing,
is it true you have you spin the motor around twice before setting it at tdc. i think thats proabably the only thing i havent dont to it.

</TD></TR></TABLE> you rotate the crank to tdc to get it to the compression stroke (the crank rotates 720*....360* on exhaust stroke and 360* on compression stroke)

sounds like valves to me - are you checking clearance between the top of the rocker arm and the camshaft lobe? you <U>don't</U> check clearance between rocker arm and valve like on SOHC engine

yeah im checking the clearance right
i replaced the head. and as soon as i put the new head on it made the same sound.
i checked anddouble checked and tripple checked the clearance, and all that jazz,
and still the sound remains. ive checked and double checked and 9847593476 checked the timing,
ive checked 98693286 time for just about everything, and nothing seems to be wrong,
but.. it keeps making this god forsaken sound and my car ran at first with this sound, and now it doesnt.
its REALLY pissing me off
