Default Dark LSD Fluid

I just installed a CTR trans with a 98+ specs ITR final drive with the stock LSD. I drained all the fluid and replaced all the seals before the install. After installation, i used OEM honda MTF. After driving with the fluid for about 3000 miles, i changed it out just to kinda flush it since i figured the trans was probably sitting up in japan. The fluid was really black though. It didnt smell burnt, but was way darker than i have ever seen come out of a stock honda trans. I was wondering if this is normal for a LSD trans. Don't they use the clutch type for the lsd? Anyhow, any help is appreciated.

Oh and another thing. How could i tell if this is a helical or clutch type lsd. because if it is the clutch type, then the dark fluid might make sense right? I bought it off ebay from japan, so i am not sure if it still has the stock lsd esp since they already had it apart to put in the final drive from an ITR. I took it apart and everything looked clean inside, but didnt think to look at the lsd.

Lift the front wheels of the car off of the ground, put the car in gear, and rotate one of the tires. If the other tire easily rotates the opposite way, you either have a helical LSD or an open differential. If you have much difficulty rotating the the tire, you probably have a clutch pack LSD.

The final confirmation of the helical LSD is this: could you see through the differential with the axles removed (LSD). If there was a pin blocking the hold, it is an open wheel differential.

Regarding the color, perhaps the original owner put a dark fluid in there. If you drain it again and it is black, then I would worry.

I dont remember if i could see through it or not, but i can definatley tell it has a lsd in it from driving it. You can just feel it through the steering wheel. But i guess i will drain the fluid again and see if it is dark this time. Maybe it was like you said and it just got all the old fluid out with the new that i had put in.
