Faster turning steering racks
This has been driving me nuts. I know i saw a faster steering rack for the CRX in a mag about a month ago but now i can't find it! Can anyone help me out? All i remember was that lock to lock it was only like 2.83 turns!! Thanks
yup, quaife makes one. they make the entire rack if you want it, i think is something like 2.75 turns, lock to lock. i wonder what thats like on the hwy? i used a si rack in my std.
Quaife does make it, and its more like 2.3-2.4 turns lock to lock in a Civic EF. I've had one for about a year now. It is not any harder to drive this car at highway speeds than it would be with an OEM steering rack. Its alot easier to drive on the autocross course though. Quaife does not make the entire rack, they make the rack bar and pinion, and you have to install it into your existing steering rack housing.
Also keep in mind that the parts are designed for the CX/DX/HF/STD rack housing, and will not fit the Si rack housing (which is different) without machining of the Quaife parts.

It is definitely heavier steering when stopped. You gotta get your back into it if you're not moving. When rolling along, its heavier, but still super easy. I would not trade it for the world.
