97 accord temp gauge...???
anyone know what to look for...about 4 months ago...my temp shot up on the gauge a little above the half line...so i check my water reservoir and its empty...so i add more water and problem solved...
i just got back from driving and my temp shot up again to about the half way mark, any ideas on what to look for...my car has 142k miles btw...
a friend of mine suggested maybe a thermostat replacement or even a water pump?????

how would i do that...
when the car is cold check the coolant level
remove rad cap check rad level.
install a pressure tester on rad
start car and let it get up to operating temp
with car running use a LED flaah light and visually inspect engine bay for leaks (both top and bottom) after you are satisfied that you have found no external leaks, see how long the system holds pressure after engine is turned off. It should hold pressure for at least 2-3 hours. If it does not, you have an internal leak
If you suspect an internal leak get a SOS analysis done on your engine oil.
