Rattle can primer then a body shop paint job? will it work?
Ok i have a crown vic that needs paint due to sun fadding. My friend works at a body shop and is doing all the prep work himself then i am taking it to a diff. shop to have it painted. My question is they want it primered before i bring it so can i use a rattle can primer? Will it look decent if i due? I do not plan on keeping the car i am just trying to make it look nice to sell but i dont want to due a crappy job so it starts pealing for the next person. Thanks and yes i searched but it was all stupid stuff that didnt tie to this.
i did it to my civic before!
i sanded it down myself and then went to walmart racked up on bunch of cans of primer and went to work lol
then sent it to macco and they sprayed it had the car back in less than 24 hours and i was extremly happy.

thats where the car is being painted
The package is 250$ then if i want them to primer it its about another 180$ so i am doing it myself. what package did you have them do and how did the paint turn out. Also how many cans did you use for what kind of car so i can get an idea
Depends on what paint they use. If the paint or any of the products doesnt react with the can primer you lay on then i guess there should be no problem. I would rather prep the car myself and send it in the paint shop aswell..Macco's infamous about painting over emblems, your trim, wheels, windows, etc. But some of the cars i did on a budget in the past got prepped fully by me and my cousin at the shop we were at then rolled into macco down the street. Just make sure the paint they use doesnt react with products you use.
being a painter in a bodyshop, i hate when people prime their car before they bring it in, especially with rattle can primer. but hey, if they're willing to do it cheaper and you're willing to sacrifice the quality of the paintjob, then more power to you.

self prep and macco spray is the best bang for the buck!
the paint never faded or chip/flaked , but the guy who sprayed my car also does some real expensive *** custom paint, does sick ghost flaming too!
expletive paying 300000000 dollars for a paint job lol

Go for the ULTRAURETHANE package!!!!
Looks like a factory paint job. Single stage paint is not really that glossy compaired to the base/clear jobs, but the Ultraurethane package is really good and I was amazed. The other Maaco package under that is garbage in my opinion because they use really cheap paint and the paint finish is really dull (know from experience).
Go with the Ultraurethane if they offer it. Well worth it.
