Default Hood pins?

what are those things called, that have the wire going from the top of the headlights, to the of hte hood. Are those hood pins?

I've seen them on a honda once, not sure if that's too popular or whatever, know that they came on the HEMI '71 r/t challenger, older mustang (have to say '69), except on the mustang they were more like hand screws..., and I know they were on Bryan's eclipse in the beginning of fast and the furious. Does anybody have any idea what I'm talking about, if so, they worth it? I mean they really look hot, but I as j/w about them...because they really look hot...

Theyre so you dont look like a retard when your non-factory hood flies up while youre driving.
Smart people use them...Darwin's theories weed out the rest.
Theyre for safey, not just looking nice.

actualyl i think hood pins are ugly...so if i get a cf hood, im putting them on, SOLELY to keep from damaging -a cf hood, -my windshield, -my roof, -anything else that got damaged by me being blinded and crashing all over the place

Hood pins...they're greats...saves your windsheild also helpful against theft...the ones with the inserted keys are the best for that...you can put small locks on the slide pin style ones but they're easier to cut. They do look nice if you put them on right. All personal preferance though...

well cf hoods are lighter, which is why it would be smart to invest in a pair
my uncles-brothers hood flew up while driving... not a cool thing.. so now they both have hood pins.. on there car

yah hood pins are good when you get a lighter hood than oem. also try to get the ones that lock, a few weekends ago me and a guy i know were at the drag strip and some punk *** un did his hood pins, his hood popped up when he was on the expressway doing about 65, smashed his windsheild and the roof of the car. But yah...i think they look bad when they are on a neon...or sumtin.

Safety is No.1 with hood pins...if youre going CF, definately. Know a few people that have had em fly up and wreck the car up! I personally think theyre sweet (given the right pins, and if theyre installed right!)
*If youre unsure, practice on a junkyard hood that destroyed first!

Hood pins do not lock
Hood locks do, but are NOT meant to act as safety equipment.

Do NOT use these to keep your hood from flying up. It even says it on the damn packaging!

These are to be used

Want to lock them? Put a little padlock through the stud

Naw, I'm not going with a CF hood, I'm keeping the stock hood, but I'm not looking for ones where like, they are bars like the pics you guys shown, I'm looking for ones like the old challengers had, lemme see if I can dig up some pics, I fancy them very highly, not sure if I should put them on or not, if I do, it's strictly for looks, not to keep my hood from flying up, that's why I have a hood latch...I can keep the hood latch even with the pins...right?

So which category do mine fit under? Replaces the stock hood latch.

here's some I googled, not sure if they'll show up or not...

- probably best picture of what I'm looking for

- has 'em w/o the wires, but I'm lookin for the ones that have the wires/cables

Yeah, it's not to keep my hood from flying off (though taht would be nice, it's simply to look nice, like I said, I've seen them a few times on civics and I thought they looked nice, what about u guys? Know any places hwere I can find things like these?

Those are perfect examples of what I'm looking for

not just the screw ons or posts with teh clip like:

Are they different kinds or is just one w/ the cables and one is w/o? And do you think the ones with the cables will look good on a civic? (this is a general question, I think they do, wondering what other pple think...)
