89 to 90 defroster and dimmer wiring
just like the title says i would like to know if anybody knows or has a write up, i am changing my cluster and cluster cover to a 90/91 and i have an 89 i was wondering how to convert the dimmer and defroster
Hey, I did the same thing for my 89' Si. It's really really easy. Just go to a junkyard and get the plugs for the 90-91's (should cost you no more than a few dollars, I got mine for free), snip the plugs for the 88-89, and match the colors up
. The reason I say snip is because...even if you de-pin, you're going to end up needing to extend wires anyways so just solder/heatshrink/make it better than new.
Oh yeah, forgot to add -- when you snip the plugs, get as much wire as you can with them. Reason being is because the defroster switch is on the opposite side for the 90-91 gauge cluster bezel/cover. I snipped all the way from the harness and ended up needing to add a few inches of wire to both the defroster/dimmer. I didn't bother doing the hazard light switch, because I ran out of time for my car.
