Default Help - Where is it leaking? - 96' Hatch - d16y7 - PICS INSIDE!

my thread earlier got messed up.. this is the new one so please reply in here..

okay the oil leak looks like it collects and drips right by where the tranny and motor meets..

can i use those liquid sealer things? would it work lol iono i think all those thigns are a bunch of bs haha..

thanks in advance for help here are the pics they are basically taken at every angle.. oh and i looked in my engine bay and i dont see any oil present looks like its only underneath where i see oil..































i know there are a lot of pics but i hope it helped even more determining the problem..

any one else? the rest of the tranny looks fairly clean just the bottom is where i can see oil...

well its either the rear main or the oil pan. those are the only places that oil could channel from.

looks like maybe the passenger side half shaft seal, the seal that is in the tranny houseing preventing any oil to escape from around the axle. I dont think its the rear main because if it was your clutch would prob be slipping real bad because it would be oil soaked...

Edit! Drivers side seal maybe? haha i cant tell what side im looking at... haha but check your tranny seals.

1-green simple whole motor really good!
2 buy the UV stuff that goes in ur oil
3 break out the black light
4- look for white stuff

well is it tranny fluid or engine oil? probably a rear main or oil pan like already said. and your clutch wont slip because the rear main seal is behind the flywheel.

i bet you anything it`s you rear main seal! i had the same problem when i have my 93 civic ex. doesnt really make your clutch slip untill it really drips badly.

Honda manual transmissions use engine oil

i did an oil change like 1 month ago.. and since its been dripping its now a little bit lower than the high oil lvl point.. on the dip stick.

it could be tranny fluid or oil i have no idea.. they are both light brown (oil is clean if its light brown) and (tranny fluid is lightbrown) isnt it? i dont know but yea..

oh and.. i dont feel the clutch slippin.. it grabs pretty hard..

if its the rear main seal.. can i just replace the whole tranny? since trannys are only like 150 for a used one? cus if i just change the rear main seal it'd be like 500 labor.,.

ima say drivers axle seal

if u look in this pic, theres WAY more oil on the drivers side of the tranny,
right around where the axle connects.

too bad you only took pics of the pass side


about the rear main seal,
u can take off the flywheel cover(thin metal thingie with a few 10mm bolts holding it on), if u see alot of oil in there, behind/on the flywheel then yep, rear main seal.

but if its dry in there, ur fine on that point.

rear main seal will leak between block and tranny.

from the pics it looks like its from the oil filter?

ok guys i jacked the car up today.. and umm the oil seems to be collecting somewhere by the oil filter but its not at the oil filter..
