If you're talking about shift *****, there's nothing that's vehicle specific about it.

are there threads on the inside of the **** or are there tiny fastners near the base of the ****?

some of the...cheaper models use small allenkey fasteners at the base of the ****... but it doesn't sound like fasteners at all since u said it feels like you have to force screw it on
So with that asside I've never had a problem with different size bars/***** but I'm sure there are different sizes, make sure the shift **** is pre-threaded, I know that I had my friend's DC Sports Shifter **** and I had to put a lot of force to screw it on, but then again, it actually went on, probably different size threads or something, because I didn't cross thread it or damage either part...

either the thread inside is too large/small, or you need that stupid plastic cap and and tighten with 3 screws. i hate that ****. momo does that **** which is why i say expletive momo shift *****. I just got a ARC style from f1spec that **** screws right on looks cool too
