Default Some advice here from you B16 Guys

Alright, I know this may bore the **** out of you guys, but I usually stay on the Integra area.

Alright, here is my question.

A Swapped EX B16 with a LS Auto Tranny, how would that respond, would the shift time be early, would it never hit the optimal RPMs for it to really pull.

Its just a question, as I'm not the best on a B16 tech.

But being a very peak power engine, wouldn't the Auto tranny just kill it out?

Its kind of important for me to find out.

Because my friend wants to buy one for daily driving uses but I'll know as soon as he gets it he's going to think its not acting right.

It would be a dog, don't buy it. The LS gearing is horrendously long, and the responsiveness of the auto tranny is even worse. Even a GSR tranny would be a little long for a B16.

I see, well, the car (I went and drove a Auto B16) and I felt like I was driving a slug.

Suprised me, my B18 would take it.

Don't underestimate the B18B, it does have potential. Somewhat limited potential maybe, but still potential. The torque difference is what does it.

huh? we're talking about gearing right?

Unless you have absolutely no choice like you're handicaped or something, don't do it. That LS tranny will probably make your B16 feel like a D16

Car isn't for me. For a friend.

He wanted it, for "TEH B16 OMGZORS". Type of thing.

Btw, I have a 1992 B18A w/YS1 GSR Tranny.

Plus its cammed and so on, so I think I may be able to beat it. But that isn't the point.

So, I'm sure you guys are right, as the Auto LS ratios are pretty sad, and the B16 is a high reving monster, I'd be pretty sure that a short ratio would be on the good for it. Auto LS just kills it.

If it was Automatic.
It wouldn't have a 5th gear.

Maybe he should try being easy on it.

Last time I remembered, Honda's aren't race cars.

Just to finalize my Explanation.
I own a DA9. GS 5 Speed.

The car I was asking about now belongs to my friend, and we found out how hindered the B16 is by the auto tranny, its sad really.

I actually have a B16 on a LS tranny... in a 97 4door civic.
DONT DO IT! tell em' to save up or trade or something, the only difference i feel between now and my single cam is prbly only when v-tec engages, and on the freeway, past 100mph.. other than that it's pretty slow...
