? about cam gears

What does the different cam timings (ex. 1°, 2°, 5°). do to the engine? Im looking at the aem tru time adjustable cam gears.

its pretty much like your dizzy timing but mechanical you can retard or advance it... retarding gives you better bottm end and advancing will make it perform better in the top end.
