make sure you have all the sensors for the b18c hooked up for the ecu that the engine came with. Then make an appointment with the smog referee to get a smog certificate stating that the engine installation meet california law spec's. Contact your local DMV and find out where the closest Smog Referee is.

It will pass as long as the smog tech dose not see that it is vtec. as long as everything is stock it will pass, its the visual inspection you have to worry about.

do you know a ref? are you located in socal? let me know.

but as far as i know, my DB8 is a stock LS chassis, but it runs on a B18C. It passes smog just fine. It has a ITR Intake manifold, DC (4-2-1 header), and 2.5" pipping catback w/o resonator.

As for getting it BAR'ed, a reliable source told me all I gotta do is get a USDM GSR Intake Manifold, an ITR catback, and a P72, and it should pass visual inspection fine.

VTEC is not the problem - people have BAR'ed H22 swaps in hatches just fine. It is the sensor part that is important. Make sure all the sensors are hooked up right for that year of engine, etc.

The swap has to be a 100% engine swap, that means all the electronics, sensors and smog equipment. To swap the engine is easy, to do it right is hard!
