Our new BANDSAW...

and we cut an SR20 Cyl. head in half for fun and knowledge...

Its a 1965 DoAll 36" Vertical Contour Saw. Model V-36. It came with blade welder, a motor that didnt work, and needed new blade and belts.
We got it all running great today after driving 6 hours to pick it up in a rental truck. Its enormous!!!!!!!!!! We dubbed it "The Mammoth". We are happy with the purchase to say the least. About $1400.00 is in it total including the rental truck, new motor, belts and electrical and everything. And we still have a blade welder to sell.
It took a while to cut through the head... im not sure prolly like 15 minutes or so? its a 10 TPI blade we picked up as thats all the local store had in stock. Not sure what we had the speed set at due to our speed indicator being broken, but the saw is equipped with a 2 speed variable transmission. 0-1600 FPM.... perfect for metal cutting!!!!
We have $1400.00 in it including the new parts, new motor, and rental truck with gas to pick it up.
This saw brand new would cost $10,000 or more.
a Fellow we sponsor is also sponsored by Falken so we have plenty of RTs and STs around the shop.

Yeah, we are watching one(speed indicator) on ebay right now... im just glad we have a bandsaw again... The motor burnt up on our little JET awhile ago and we needed somthing bigger anyway.

The blade is on correctly. If it was on backwards we would be pushing the blade away from the bearing and out of the guides.... hence pushing the blade out of the machine.

I'd keep the blade welder unless you already have one.
1) You can buy rolls of blade for cheap and weld them together.
2) If you need to cut something from hole to hole, you can cut the blade put it through the hole, weld it, cut your part, cut the blade, reweld the blade. no exterior cut on the part...

Yeah, we thought about keeping the welder and are aware of its advantages, but with blades being so cheap $40.00 or less, i doubt well ever use it. Its so much faster to just pop a new blade on. Also im not even sure if it works... and we can sell it to recoupe some of our money on the saw itself. We already removed it and put a switch panel in its place which is where we relocated the on/off switch.
