painting the 98 gsr swirlie rims
has anyone painted there 98 gsr rims gunmetal or black. if so, what paint do i use. does anyone have pictures of a gsr with the stock swirlie rims painted gunmetal or black. thanks.
The best way to get your rims done, is to powdercaot them. It is a little costly, but the end result is amazing. I'll try and get a pic of a set and post here.

The colors will mismatch between the center cap and the wheel itself (since you are powder coating it). I was wondering if you could powder coat the center cap also while retaining the logo.

this is how it looks on my teg though...

Just go to a sign shop and get some vinyl stickers of the A logo made in whatever color you want. They should either have it on file, or they can just scan one of your centercaps into their computer and cut the decals from that. They might charge $20 or so to do it, but don't pay more than $25. Centercaps from the dealer run at least $20 each.
thanks for the comments... my bodyshop guy painted them for me... its some color called anthracite or something...it looks really nice though.. haha thats all im worried about...

I've seen both good and bad paint and powder coat jobs. WHen I used to autocross, some of the Camaro/Firebird guys would buy factory knock offs and paint them with krylon. THey looked factory most of the time. I think surface preperation counts for alot.
Most powder coated rims look professional. Once though, when my freind got a set of 17's coated for work, they had a bunch of runs and drip marks.

mine didnt come out to bad...especially for $20 for the whole set..besides a bad powder coat job (like mine) is still better than a good paint job...imo
