215/45/17 on a 17" x 7.5" wheel
will it fit?
tirerack.com recomends 225/45/17
the tires are the OEM's from my 06 civic si which comes with 17 X 7's

When you pick out a tire the "spec" will give a range of approved rim widths that that specific tire will fit on.
For example if you look at the "specs" for the Yoko AVS ES 100, Yoko AVS ES 100 spec ,you will see the 6th column says "rim width range" and for the 215/45/17 it has a value of 7"-8". Thus it would be ideal for a 7.5" rim.
This parameter changes from tire model to tire model. You will have to find your spec sheet for your tire. It should be available online.

i was doing it backwards putting in a " random rim" and it comes with recommended tires

on my Volk te37's
just burn them up and once i decide on which suspension to go with than decide
