Default Intake on a '00 Si

Ok so I've got an MR EM1 '00 Si. I'm loolong to get an intake for it soon. Wht kind does everyone here recomment/have? I've been looking at the password jdm chamber intake cause it gives ou rmore whp and torque than the AEM does and costs a lot less. What does everyone here think about this. Any helpful suggestions, comments would be great. Oh also i should mention that one of the reasons that i am leaning away from AEM is that i've heard they hydrolock sometimes. On my campus, it floods in a lot of areas in the parkinglot and you can't avoid these puddles. Some of them are deep.

any CAI can cause you engine to hydrolock. It has nothing to do with the company. I would've went out and got me a Carbon J's Racing short ram if I were to do it all again.

is that J's Racing intake the same as the password JDM intake? The passwordjdm intake says it won't hydrolock because it doesn't go down through the engine bay; it sits on top near the strut bar. What're the differences b/w CAI, and Short ram? which will have more performance? Is AEM better than Password JDM you think?

I had a BBM Performance intake in my d16...might work wonders for b16a's...it was a short ram...if u want that performance..shooting out an extra couple bucks won't hurt..just depends on what u using your car for...

Yeah thats true. Im using my car as daily driver even though i dorm on campus. Im looking for more performance though especially more torque. would you recommend the AEm short ram or V2? i have a hard time deciding on what to buy cause i want the best product thats out there but im also not spending $400 on an intake.

the regular aem short ram will work just fine, dont expect too much of a gain though, i have a aem short ram and it works just like my old ebay 20 dollar intake system i had on....all that you need is a good brand filter and your set....doesnt matter what brand piping...

my suggestion order a ebay intake toss the filter and buy a k&n one ther you go....

ebay intake $20
k&n filter maybe $40

AEM intake above a $100

it all works the same

I've heard though that piping size does make a difference as far as restricting airflow in concerned. The more straight through the system is, the more power gained. Im serioulsy thining of buying the Passwork JDM cause its full carbon fiber and its supposed to add 7 pound ft of torque and 6.5 hp. Thats not bad at all.

seriously...

FYI i had a 99 si as well (not that it matters), but i had a cai and later a sri. The power difference is minimal (i didn't feel a damn thing). But i did notice that the sri had better throttle response and i didn't really have to worry about hydrolocking the car at all. for SRI (doesn't matter about the brand, just put a K&N filter on it.

Oh belive me, i have done a lot of searches so im not unintelligent about it. I just want to make a good investment. In you opinion, your saying that a short ram intake would be the best. Now, I know that the intake adds a little hp not that much but you said that you were able to notice better throttle response also? Does the short ram intake make vtec sound louder. I guess alll intakes would make vtec sound louder right? Does it make a sound like other intakes make when shifting? Im not trying to sound stupid here belive me. I just figured that since the Password JDM intake claimed to add 6.5 hp and 7 pound ft of torque it is a "better" intake than the others.

All you need is a pipe with a good filter. The filter is what matters.

Best filtration and most hp is by using the Apexi.
2nd best is the K&N for both.

depends on where you want power. I had the comptech on my si and it felt nice down low and midrange. I switched over to the AEM 3 inch CAI and i feel better midrange and top end. Vtec cracks alot harder than the comptech did. On the *** dyno

Daily Driver, cruising around and not smashing alot. definately quieter = comptech
not to great off the line but louder and harder pulling vtec= aem
IMO
