I think some of the pins are different and the locations of some sensor wires and grounds are at different locations..Also the 88 harness is different from the 89-91 harness..Cant answer your question %100 though..sorry

Yes there are differences.
Plugs are the same. Pinouts are different
Interchangeable? With a little work.

same plugs just different pinning. The driver side shock tower plug pinout is different.
I know that the injectors are pinned differently and on the HF harness there's a white igniter wire going through that side and on the Si harness it's for the .......ummmm ahh sh*t I forgot, some air valve I think.
I know for a fact that you need to re-pin that side of the harness, and re-route the dizzy wire to the appropriate location.
BTW I just used an Si harness on my HF when I did the OBD0 to OBD1 conversion. So that's how I know. And now the car runs fine.

HHHMMM well I just got done dropping a d16a6 that was out of a 91 CRX in my 88 HF and all if the wiring went perfectly fine. I had to extend a couple of wires with pig tales to make them reach but except for that and one change of a plug for the little vacume sensor thing in the back. Started up first try no codes and is running great. I didnt have to change any of the pins at the ECU.

Oh yeah I am already aware of the differences as in the ecu connection, lol, I figured that out yesterday looking through the helms. But I am wondering if the ENGINE harness alone is different? All it seems to be is a couple of extra plugs. Cuz in the Helms it keeps stating the Si/HF as having identical wiring besides, shift light, reverse, egr and dashpot.

ahhh allow me to clarify as well that the Si harness came from an 88 and I hacked it all up to work on my 90 HF. Sorry for the confusion.
