I've got an '88 CRX Si, and i find that the exhaust smells really pungent, especially when the engine is cold. Of course this is relative to my '01 RAV4 but i dunno, i feel it smells a little more pungent than it should. So i guess my question is if this is normal? And if it isn't, any advice?

Check your cat. They make funny smells sometimes. Especially if they have gone bad.

 

on start up engines tend to run rich, especially when its colder out, so the smell is a lot more noticeable. it might just be that.

 

yea....i thought it might be running a bit rich....any way i can solve that?...

or dont park outside in the cold.
