199whp stock k20a3 w/type-s cams
Well I finally got another one of my projects finished and dynoed. This is a stock 02 Civic SI K20a3 block and head with type-s camshafts, my race header, and a k-pro. This dyno was done with just the header. There is no exhaust hooked up. That is why the hp#'s are a little high to begin with. The blue line is the stock motor, stock cams, k-pro, and race header. The red line is the stock motor, type-s cams, k-pro, and race header.
I'm sure you think that type-s cams won't work in a k20a3 head but I assure you there is a way to make them work and retain a good idle.

Can you please explain further? I was unaware that this was possible. lol.
Either way, nice setup and nice #'s.

You run the type-s rockers with the type-s cams. It is an alternative to swapping the entire head over. If you purchased brand new OEM parts it would cost you about $1800.

You just run the a2 rockers? I thought the VTEC mechanism is completely different Between the two.

Im I the only one who sees this being amazing you can convert an a3 to an a2 w/ just the swap of a few parts. WOW, that is truly awesome.

I'm pretty blown away about this myself. :must find cheap used type-s cams and rocker assembly:
But this brings up another question, does this mean that any aftermarket cam option available for the k20a2 will work on the a3?
