stfu 05 your gums are bleeding from teething on this site. Don't be a dick.

I would agree just leaving it in drive is the best thing to do but I find my self messing around like this in autos out of habit. I've never heard of any thing bad happing from it though I would say your safe to do so.

Hey 04 your gums are bleeding as well.....

Yes its bad for your tranny cause its causing extra friction on it you notice that when you put it back into drive that it goes to one gear lower then comes back up? thats cause its searching for the right gear to be in. If you dont care about the car go ahead and do it I dont think it will do any major damage REAL soon but yes its adding extra wear.

yeah i noticed that when i put in neutral the rpm drops to 600 or something then when i pop it back into d4 its back up to 2k rpm and above(depending on my speed).

This question doesnt apply to me because i always leave it in drive, its for a freind who puts in neutral a lot when he goes downhill. Ill let him know..but thanks for those who helped!

injectors are cut off when the transmission is turning the engine, leave it in gear and you'll save more gas.

I would venture to say that by doing this process while the car is in motion you're putting unneeded stress on the torque converter, which is....unneeded. I suppose that it would be detrimental after a long period of time.

leave that thing in the gear it's supposed to be in would be my inclination.
