I searched a bit and found this. The process it pretty straight forward, probably why there aren't too many DIY threads.

Some people just paint it black so it doesn't rust. Some people paint it bright colours for attention. I would just go with black personally but it is up to you. I forsee silver getting dirty pretty quickly. But in the end it is your car and your choice.

Cheers.

It was a nice warm day in Toronto or Scarborough Canada and I decided to try to fix these rusty brake drums and corroded wheels

Here are the results, well i did the brake drum silver no picture of it but i ended up doing the wheels, used chrome finish on the wheels,

it took me about 2 hours, fairly quick though, I jacked the car up and took off one wheel at a time, lightly sanded it and scraped some chipped parts off and rinsed in water and dried with shop towels and used the index card method and painted it dried them for 5 min and blow dried it a lil bu the lug nut areas and put em back on, and proceded to the next.

Also tell me what you think of the windshield wiper arms, they were worn off of there original black paint and i painted them with a metallic blue?Im plnning to do the interior Dash plastic plate where the gauges are, any tips on doing that?

Nice work, hopefully it survives the rest of salt this winter.

Apperance/cosmetic might be a better place to ask. I am sure if you search you will also find numerous threads.

Cheers.

paint the drums black otherwise it will be really gay looking<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by crazydragonclk &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Im plnning to do the interior Dash plastic plate where the gauges are, any tips on doing that?</TD></TR></TABLE>
do not do that whatever you do. on of my friends has a civic like yours and it has paint on the interior plastics. it looks like ***, all the paint is chipping off. but whatever. you choose to do it or not. my friend thinks it is cool.
