I have a hose nipple on an aluminum pipe I need to have welded shut. I haven't yet managed to find a shop who is willing to just plug this hole without either charging an arm and a leg or trying to convince me to make a new pipe (its a tight bend elbow so I'm sure they could charge a lot to do it.)
Anyways, can someone who has a TIG welder around the DC area help me out and close this hole up for some reasonable price? Its a 1/2" hole that just needs to be welded closed by any preferred method. It doesn't have any threads in it and its too thin to tap otherwise I'd just do that and bolt it closed.

Just cap the end of it closed.

 

I'm a little worried about boost blowing a cap off. I'm not sure if it would happen or not, but I suppose its possible, which is why I'm wanting to weld it closed.
