have any of you had problems with grinding gears with the exception of reverse? my third gear grinds all the time now, since last night. before that it would only grind at high RPM's and the dealer claimed they found nothing wrong with it. bastards!!! anyone have similar problems? i hear its a common thing on 012 gsr's or any manual integ.

 

try pressing on the clutch all the way down before you move the shift ****

i haven't had any problem with mine but mine is a 00. i have a friend who has a Si and says that his **** sometimes locks him out of 3rd when ever he is on full throttle. when he was boosting the tranny would throw him out of 3rd too. just a common problem with some b series trannys

 

Nope, Got a 01 gsr with 5050 miles on it. my shifting is smooth

 

did you check the Transmission fluid? Make sure its full. Maybe even try putting some new MTF in.

 

I don't really have too many problems w/ mine other than the occasional missed double-clutch downshift grind, but that's my fault.

Get a second opinion from another dealer.

I had a problem shifting into third at high rpm's. Then it got worse and it did it at any rpm shifting into third. I took it to the dealer and one of their best mechanics drove my car for not even five minutes and determined that it was the syncros. They covered it under warranty, if not it would have cost $700.

If the dealer you took it to said their was no problem then they don't know their foot from their a$$. I would recommend taking it to another Acura dealer and have it looked at. Good luck

I dont have trouble shifting into any gear either. The only time I grind is sometimes from 1-2 I dunno why. But it happens like once every two weeks. But never really had trouble. Its prolly ur synchros or something. Hope u can get it fixed

 

just **** it up more and bring it in for warranty cuz its only gonna get worst. same thing happened to my brother's 01 accord. after awhile he couldnt even put it in gear.

 

2001 GSR, no transmission problems. Yet.

 

well i just bitched the service manager out, because ive bought my ******* car there twice and they found nothing wrong. ****-suckers. the syncros have to be fucked up. bear in mind this is the same dealership that gave me an rsx-S loaner, only to find out 800 pm that night that it was someones ******* car.......time for a new dealership. ALL 01 owners beware cause ive found out this is very common problem.

 

i have the same problem with my 96 gsr, also had a 91 teg did the same thing.
Honda gots down the motor thing , but i guess ther lacking in the tranny department

No, he stands correct because i sometimes feel the problem with my 2001 LS. Only when reving high that is.

It took about 2 days to get my car back. I was there when the guy took my tranny out. It only took him like 20min to do that then he handed it off to another mechanic to tear the tranny down. So not counting the day I dropped it off, it took like 2 days.

 

sounds like the syncros to me, my dad's prelude would grind in 5th like that. He took it to the honda (because he works there) and it was a $500 job, he fought it because honda knew about it so they gave him 50% off...

 

My 98 GSR had the same exact problem, dealer claimed the same thing, but I knew about the problem becaue my old 89 Supra tubo had the same exact problem. Its most likely the syncro, luckily it was done under warranty. Just go into the shop w/ a mechanic friend or act like you know what your talkin bout, they wont know what to say Good luck with it.

 

hey GSRacer2102 dang man i was at illegals last night and raced a type r and grinded second too. wtf is up with that? i never grind any other gear exept for 2nd? is it the syncros?

 

Syncros.......and hurry and replace them, i needed some and didnt change them and i lost 1st,2nd,and 3rd at some illegals i had to drive all the way home with 4th and 5th

 

Nope The only time my tranny grinds is when I try downshifting into first when I'm going too fast, and that's my fault and it doesn't happen very often. Good luck with the dealer though their service Sucks
