I'm getting ready to order a Kirk 6pt weld in cage and was wondering if any of you have run into any clearance issues with welding the support legs to the main hoop.
A little background on the car/situation:
The car is an EG hatchback, rear portion of the car is completely striped. It is still registered and street legal. The car is rarely driven on the street....mainly trips to and from the track, test drives around the block after I install a new part, or the occasional road trip once or twice a year to an HPDE event out of state. Since the car is still driven on the street (even though only occasionally) I'm going to hold off on installing the front section of the cage for now. My plan is to just install the rollbar portion of the cage (main hoop with the diagonal and horizontal braces + rear support legs) and leave the forward section in the garage for now until I cease driving it on the street.
That being said, based on where the Kirk rear support legs join to the main hoop, I think it may be hard for my welder to access the top portion, between the bar(s) and the roof. My common sense tells me that if they (and Autopower) sell bolt in / weld in cage kits that its doable. But based on some of the pictures I've seen of the tight clearance near the roof, I'd like to have the peace of mind of knowing how the welder will do it before I make my order.

Which way are you wanting to weld it?
1. Are you wanting to use the provided sleeves, and weld each end of the sleeve?
2. Are you wanting to just butt the two ends together and weld them that way...
If you are wanting to weld the sleeve over the two ends I don't see it being a problem, atleast not towards the roof-line, I had plenty of clearance there, my tight spot was at the rear quarter window.

I presume that #1 would be if you bought the regular bolt in 4pt rollbar.
Right now I want to buy the weld in cage. Kirk's sites says all the tubing is 'prenotched' which leades me to beleive that there are now sleeves used for that kit.

Ah, that is true, I didn't even think about that. My cage was a bolt-in.. I wanted to be able to remove it if need be, plus he showed me his rx-7 that rolled down the back-stretch at Barbers Motorsports Park with a bolt in 6pt, and it held together great, so I felt pretty confident about going bolt-in.
