Default Time to go...until summer!

Didn't know where to post this, but I guess the EF forums because I drive a similar car .

Well, I never thought the day would come where I'd have to sign over my ED to someone who didn't give half a damn about it. Well, anyways nobody'll probably care, but here's the short story: Family needed car (too many people, not enough cars), they looked to me -- the high schooler who lives a few miles away from school, I couldn't say no, I signed my car over to my cousin for 2 years yesterday.

Fully detailed it for the first and last time:

Needless to say, I don't expect to get it back in anywhere near the good condition I kept it in. Actually, I plan to swap in a B-series once I get it back because I don't expect the D I have in there to still be running well when I have the car back under my name.

The good news is that I'll get to drive my car again for a month this summer before I leave for school later this year. Hopefully to a high ranking U.C. (California thing), but only time will tell.

Thanks for reading my sob story .

I agree.

You may not realize it right now...but EF cars that clean are VERY hard to find.

And when you get it back (if you do)...it's never going to be the same again.

Haha, thanks for the words of encouragement guys...I think.

I do realize I'll never get it back in good shape. Actually, I'm planning to never get it back again. I was always very careful where I left the car, because I know how often cars like ours are stolen/stripped (started garaging it/went crazy on security after I was walking home one night, and saw a beat down old integra with 2 guys in it checking out my car). The way I figure it is...I'm only 17, and if this car gets owned/destroyed I'll go pick up my next dream car and restore it -- Y-49 CRX. for the family.

In preparation for the likely event of getting stolen/stripped/owned I took out virtually all additions I made to it..hence the empty foglight holes in the bumper .

Well, it's been fun:

Yeah, my cousin does have a car, but I gave her mine due to family reasons that I'd rather not discuss lol.

About the Y-49...I've heard about the infamous "curse," and originally I hated the color, but once I saw this car:

I can't help but want one . Of course I'd probably leave it USDM ftw .

i have done the same. My older brothers car broke down and needed a car to get to work while he saves some money to buy a car. so i let him drive my practically mint 2 owner 94 civic as long as he pays insurance and takes resposibility for what happens to it and maintains it. Its been close to 6 months since i have let him use it and nothing has happend and hopefully nothing will. I would let him use one of my other vehicle but he cant ride and it would take him way too long to replace a truck like the one i have incase something did happen. He actually put in a better stereo and speakers than the ones that were in it so i hasnt been too bad.

and over all family> civic deathtrap.

I don't know why, but my family doesn't trust used cars. I've worked on cars so I don't really mind, but yeah. I would've preferred if they just went with a $2-5k Honda or something seeing as my "old" car is around 18 years old... They're just saving for a new car or something.

And yes, the car was repainted around 5-7 years ago. I was pretty surprised when I got the car, because it was used as a daily driver on salted Canadian roads until I brought it into the U.S.

Oh yeah, and Family does indeed > Civic Deathtrap. For me at least (despite my feelings at the moment, lol).

Beautiful car man. At 17 you should be proud to do something like this for family. I must say it must be hard but family first, a car can always be replaced. I have a lot of respect for you doing this. Good luck to you and you will find something better in the future. Glad to see another ED in the country, I was beginning to thing everyone had JDM cars!

I give you props for helping out your family. I had a similiar situation, wasnt a honda though. When i got that b1tch back, it came on a flat bed with a blown head gasket a leaking radiator, oil leakage, a/c broken, and four unmatching bald a$$ tires! People never take good care of stuff that is not their's.

I bought this car even though I originally hated the color only because the car was in fantastic shape for the price. (1600$) Now im in love with it. Y-49 for life!

And you are a better man than me for giving up a EF that clean. I would buy a beater car for your cousin and stick that car in storage. How about you give me the car and Ill keep it beautiful for you while you are at college? I love EF's.
