Problem getting worse
I have done everything I've been told so far. Nothing has worked. My car is now idling at 2200. I've adjusted the throttle screw. I've cleaned the IACV. I've replaced the FITV. And I've checked hoses. Nothing is working. Even worse, now my car reeks of antifreeze. I first noticed it when I would turn the heat on. But now it smells even with the heat off. People say it could be my heater core, but they said a film glazes over the inside windshield. I have no glaze on the inside, but it is on the outside. All winter my car has been idling high, so what I do to prevent wasting fuel is, whenever I'm stopped, I put it in first, hold down the brake, then lift off on the clutch so my idle drops. It goes to about 1100rpm. I let off just enough so that the car doen't die. I recently was caught by a train, so I did the usual routine while I was waiting. Then it smelled so bad of antifreeze. And I then noticed smoke coming from under my hood. So I turned the car off and waited for the train to finish. After it was gone I started back up and drove the remaining 3 blocks home. It didn't smoke anymore but it still smelled bad. I popped the hood and it smelled but no smoke I could see. Please, does anyone know what could be wrong? Thank you.
Maybe one of the hoses going to/from your IACV is leaking? I had that happen; the hose going from the valve to the block sprung a tiny pinhole leak, which would spray all over the ****** place when the car was hot. Might also explain your idle problem.
