Default Fart can :( -the bad gas

In my 1990 honda crx si i have an exaust tip. It used to sound pretty decent it had a deep tone. I was getting increasingly worse gas mileage so i decided to cut out the catalitic converter. Now whenever i let of the gas it makes this really annoying cheap sound. I was thinking of getting an exaust with a silencer. Has anyone had this set up?? how did it sound? Any other set ups i should try? I can have a 3in custom exaust from header back done for really cheap by my friend at the local shop. Any comments welcome

i think 3" on stock car is going to make it choke real bad. 2.5 is max I would go.

never straight pipe an N/A honda, sounds like ****. go down to 2.25" piping, if you are going to stay cat less, throw on an aftermarket resonator. it will sound 10x's better. you need back pressure, so your current set up is caosting you some top end power bro.

its just a tube with some sound reducing material that helps kill noise.

ive seen some at kragen, ebay, the muffler shops have them, tell yur buddy to hook you up.

not sure how smart he is though, because he did put a 3 inch exhaust on yur car.

get a cat back on there too man, if your motor is still stock.

my silencer made a world of difference
4-1 dnx header
2.25 piping no cat
apexi n1 muffler (with silencer)

i will still get a resonator i just havent yet hopefully it will quiet it down even more

I've always heard this but when I got rid of my exhaust and went to just a resonator bolted to my header I droped 4/10ths in the quarter. went from a 16.1 with just a short ram to a 15.7
