What do I need to hit 8600? (valvetrain)
I can't seem to find anyone with this setup...
gsr head
itr springs
ctr cams
Now seeing that gsr valves are heavier than the itr's, what will I have to do to make that safely hit 8600 with longevity in mind?
Springs and Titanium retainers both have cons. Which is the preferred way?

While I don't disagree with asking the question there is some valuable powerband to be dropped into if you rev past peak. Not sure where 8600 specifically cam into play but if you make peak at 8000 then going past it slightly will put you in a more powerful area of the curve in the next gear.
I can't answer the original question but I doub't 8600 will hurt anything with the setup mentioned.

Ahhhh, let me explain...
GSR head with:
headwork
ctr cams
itr springs
cam gears
head milled .012" and 2 layer gasket to give 11.5-8ish cr??
itr short block
itr tranny
I actually haven't got the block yet. (summer project)
I felt there would still be some decent meat under the torque curve at that rpm, plus that was about the stock limit for that block and I want it to last a while.
I'm not much into reving the **** out of an engine, but I was under the impression that the higher cr would bump the powerband upwards significantly.
