Default D to D swap in a 91 Civic Si

Everyone says that swapping a D to D is "easy". Looks like a big ole pain in the booty to me! How do you do it without a lift? 2500 is the cheapest I've found locally for a turn key ZC swap and I figure I can do it myself for half that, but I don't want to wind up trying and then having to pay them to fix what I screwed up!

Pulling the axles and wiring the VTEC (if I do a D16Z6) is what scares me! Does the Transmission HAVE to come out?

If I get a D16Z6 and that Zdyne "One wire Conversion" do I have to use my stock Si Intake and Distributor?

I just got off the phone with importautosalvage. Their complete B16 swap for a 4G Civic Si is ~$2600. That's $1600 cheaper than the turn key price from the local shop. BUT The local shop includes new "maintenance items", eg. clutch, water pump, belts; Dyno Tune, and 12 mo 12k warranty. Screw it, if I do a D swap I might do it myself, if I decide I want a B engine I'm not messing with it, I don't have the equipment, space, time, or knowledge .

Dammit, I'm putting straight 30 weight oil and some CD2 in my D16A6 this weekend, maybe that will stop the oil consumption and I won't have to worry about this anymore!

You can the swap yourself if you have a garage, a friend or two, and a good floor jack. I swapped my engine in from the bottom, but we had to lift the car up pretty high to fit the engine under it. after the engine was on the ground in the engine compartment we lowered the cardown as far as we could and put the mounts in. If you do this becareful for your saftey. If it looks unsafe don't get under the car.
