Ebay intake filter?
Hey guys,
i have a ebay cai w/ one of there provided filters. it doesnt sound too bad but would like it to sound a little bit better. Is going with a K&N filter going to help change that noise or is it going to sound the same. i have a buddy who has a homemade intake w/ a k&n filter for is 00 Si and it sounded pretty nice so i've been wondering about that for a while now.
Thanks

id say get a different one. maybe not a K&N but something other than ebay. I had one from there and the screen that holds the filter together RUSTED
What motor do you have? If you have a D15B w/ DPFI then there's a little free mod you can do to the throttle body to increase airflow and make it sound much much louder.

Nope, doing that alone barely makes any difference. I'm talking about the butterfly plate inside the throttle body:

After:

The difference it makes is day and night, sound wise (it actually makes installing an intake on DPFI worth it) and performance wise.

Hehe, yeah. Just be careful not to drop the screws!
If you really want to get hardcore with the DPFI, there's a plastic spacer inbetween the TB and the IM that you can dremel to match the size of the TB and IM.

It's not just the sound, it sucks in alot more air also (which is what makes the sound) hense better performance. You're basically saying you wouldn't sacrifice gas mileage for performance. It's DPFI for god sakes it's mileage is already damn good and it can't get any worse than MPFI. I just don't see how it raises gas mileage, you're helping the engine breathe better and in essence improving MPG like any other intake mod.
It's only two screws, give it a try and if you like it, keep it off, if not, put it back on. I advice taking them off because I only see benefits from doing so.

now the big question is, have any of you had a CEL go off due to the V shaped piece or removing the 1st valve?
Ohh btw...im going to leave the plastic piece alone between the tb and im.

Nope, no check engine light here. If you are to remove the valve, I advice keeping the V-plate on. Someone @ SOHCHonda stated that once you remove the valve and the V-plate, there is nothing left to create "venturi" in the TB or something to help mix the air and the fuel, and you will lose power. He adviced to keep the V-plate on if you remove the valve in the TB. I still need to put my V-plate back on, lol. But yeah, stop hesistating and do it already!

Yeah, my idle improved aswell. The idle went a little lower (after starting it) and was alot smoother than before.

I highly doubt it, but I'm not quite sure.

I read somewhere that you lose low end power, but Im going to give this a try tommorow morning.
