Blown RSX engine
My buddy has a 03 RSX Type S turboed...to make a long story short he blew his engine. He is about to pull his engine out....was wondering if anyone pulled this engine. Anyone have pics/walkthrough of the process? Thanks H-T
Damn, another bites the dust. Whats the extent of the damage and/or story?
Heres an electronic version of the Helms. Shows you how to take the engine out from underneath the car.

I am taking mine out through the top. Much easier because you don't have to drop the subframe nor do I have a lift to easily drop the motor. Problem is that you will need to disconnect your ac lines and therefore need to recharge the ac when your done.

thanks for the link...He was an the freeway, cc set, no hard running, heard a loud BANG...pulls over and oil everywhere down the sides of his car. After waiting 3 hours for flat bed to arrive..sees there is a golfball size hole on the bottom of his engine(threw a rod). He bought his ride with turbo kit already installed which I didn;t really think was a good idea..but what do I know. He's getting ready to build it up right,ie..sleeves, pistons, rods,etc... just needing to get the old engine out..Thanks again
Ahh that sucks. At least he can sleeve and build up the motor now.
That link sometimes doesn't work, here's another one.

awsome link..just finished lokking it over..1400+ pages..yikes.. After looking that over he should have no problems.. know where I can get the type of manual for 96 Civic..I want one now! Thanks again
Yeah, great link. Just go to print setup and print out the pages you need.
If this is his first engine removal theres a couple things you can do to make it go smoother. First, take a few digital pics of the engine bay. Things like shift linkage, hoses, etc. Just refer to them when reinstalling, the helms is sometimes confusing to a first timer. Also, use brown paper bags, like lunch bags, and label them with the categories of nuts and bolts. Like valve cover, sway bar, etc. Lastly, when everything is disconnected lift the motor an inch or two and double check that nothing is still attached. Very easy to miss miscellaneous hoses.
Not to bad of a job, just time consuming. Good luck!
I'll search around for some more online manuals, I know there was a link somewhere around here.
