91 Accord Electrical acting up...
hey i have a 91 Accord DX sedan and im having some problems with the electrical parts...
ceiling dome light does not work
INT setting on wipers does not work
Cigarette lighter does not work
every big bump, CD player skips
Rear Defroster does not work
I tried fuses, one 15V was blown, i tried to replace it but it gets blown the second it touches the box. Also the car gives me a static zap upon exit and anyone else getting out of the car.
I was wondering if a tune up would give new wire to my stock harness? and would a tune up fix this problem? Does anyone think it is a short in the wiring or something diff?

you got a short in your harness. YOu need to find out what that 15amp fuse controls and start trouble shooting there. I would start looking at where stuff enters the firewall and you might have to take your dash out to get to the wiresd behind it. When I first bought my '94, the engine would cut out and come back. I popped the hood and checked all of my grounds and tightened them up. 55k miles later, the issue has not returned.
yeah my CD player skips if I hit a big enough bump so that's normal.

I'd start by rechecking the wiring for the CD installation. It's the only thing that did'nt come with the car from Honda.
The Static charge is a normal Winter condition based on a combination of cloth seats, cold air and dragging one's sorry a..s across the seat while getting out. Either hold onto the door frame while you're exiting, or next warm day try spraying the seats with static guard.
A tune-up might certainly help the car, but not this condition

does a tune up mean they will replace my stock harness with new wires? you think i could pull my player out and wrap the ground wires, would that solve it?
*L* No a tune up is just like normal wear and tear parts get replaced
oil change
air filter
fuel filter
distributor cap and rotor button
spark plugs and wires
that's about it on a tune up.
changing a wiring harness is a big deal.
to get a new one from the dealer their around $250 and then hours and hours of labor at a shop for taking out your dash and probably your intake manifold on the engine so they can get the old one out and new one in.Then they have to put it all back together.so it would cost a good amount.
and it would really be over kill anyway to replace the entire wiring harness.Like the others said. You or your mechanic need to just find out what the fuse goes to and trace it's wiring. It's really not that hard when you have a manual with a wiring diagram to follow.

Sounds like you might have a grounding issue. As someone else already said, check your grounds and be sure that they are all tight. Also, the fuse box generally has a label on it that says what fuse goes for what so read that and see what it says the 15amp fuse goes to that keeps blowing out and start there. There is also a fuse just behind your cigarette lighter that might be blown, check that and that might fix up your cigarette lighter issue. As for the dome light thing, check fuses again and you may try checking/replacing your door pins. I know that the door pins on my 1990 accord are going bad because when I open my door (generally the front passenger door) the dome light doesn't turn on. Finally with the stereo issue, it's probably just a crappy CD player. You'll most likely end up replacing it, especially if it's a Sony or Dual deck. Most of your issues most likely have to do with something shorting, either grounds that aren't solid enough or positive feeds (power wires) that are grounding out on part of the chassis or other ground. Good luck and let us know.
