Limp mode is a 'safe' mode for your car. If there is something wrong with the vehicle, sometimes the ecu will go into limp mode - this includes retarding the timing and throwing a strict rev limiter on the car. This way, nothing can get harmed even more.

If you go into limp mode - a pinto can beat you. Trust me, you WILL know when you're in limp mode.
