I need someone to install my 4.57 gear set I purchased from Rick's. I need someone who knows what they're doing, and can give me a proper size Shim to order from Rick's, as well. I appreciate anyone who can lead me to a reputable shop.
Slideways I'm hoping you have some idea what I can do here lol. I still need to drop by to get the tape off. >_< Sorry i didn't make it last time.

You can try SYiZM in laguna hills. They are a smaller shop, but they are a very good shop. Very professional work. They will not release any work until it is perfect. Thier head technician is a former employee of Jun usa and Area 51 fabrications. If you are serious about it PM I can give you his contact number. He would be happy to talk it over with you.

Word from the grapevine is that the gears that are manufactured for Rick's have some kind of defect that make them whine.

There is no defect with these gears. The whine is very minimal if installed correctly, meaning someone who has done this before on an S2000 or is experienced with differential's, and gear install. There are quite a few tolerences, settings, and additional OEM parts to be aware of. If the gear set whine's to the point that you can really hear it then who ever is doing your install has messed it up, and doens't know WTF they are doing.
It is very important that whom ever does your install has either done it before, and knows what they are doing.
Goodluck.

Makes sense.

I was ramjets first set of 4.77 gear set install, the settings are different from what the 4.57/4.56 are. This is why i'm guessing he messed up.
As far as the whine, this was not your normal noise there was something wrong.
Simbadogg I highly recomend you check out raceline, after my problem i had a few members on s2ki message me privately to discuss my issue and others have had problems with ramjet as well (not as serious as mine though, more just whine noise problems). raceline has been recommended by many others including other tunning shops.
