Default quarter mile time at palmdale

i ran 10 times and the best i ran was 16.1 there. i drive a 2001 GSR, and some people there said im supposed to run lower but becuase of the high elevation, im getting higher times. is this true? if so, what was my real quarter mile time? And with the stock michellens, i couldnt get good traction, my car kept on hopping at start off and i dropped it anywhere between 3-4k rpm. any reply is appreciated. thanx!

Oh my.... those are VERY VERY slow times for a GS-R!

Practice your launch/shifting, get your car checked out, and practice some more! you should be hitting low-mid 15's!

this may be a driver problem if your not getting good traction then you need to practice you have a GSR now go run 15s

hybrider: who is currently speachless, and wonders what dude would have ran with the stock numbers of a GS-R, 140-150whp? ouch.

I'm speechless too. If i have 196wHp, I'd be well into low 14's, maybe even 13's...

This is why we don't go to Palmdale to run. The track is almost as high as the moon and it's also dusty as hell.

it is probably due to the high elevation, a couple of friends went to palmdale wednesday night, and one of the guys who has a celica gts with intake and exhaust couldn't run anything faster than a 16.0.

I don't think so, didn't Road & Track rate the GS-R at 15.7-15.8?

If so those time of his would be pretty close. I think he just needs to take some air out of his front tires.

dont worry dude, its the track... it kicks a lot of people's asses! i've seen supposedly well modified cars run like high 15's... but its sad cuz the car is basically a stock prelude, but the owner and his friends make it out to be a lot more. your times are fine if your car is stock.

nope i dont cai, just open airbox. and for the apex n1, i only have the muffler on, no piping so it shouldnt do anything to my car. so after calulating, i should of hit 15.5 instead of 16.1. so iguess im on track right?

i dunno dude....all my import buds ususally turn low 15s stock.

i say buds, but i know one guy who modded his gsr out. he hit i think a 14 sumthin modded, but a low 15 stock. my bud with a ls is hittin 15.2 modded (heavy *** 17s on it)

i am no expert, but i hit 15.954s in my ranger..... so you should be faster...

is it possible you dont know how to drive it? i am not flamin you man, i just know cats who cannot drag race at all.........rollin out of the pre stage and stage lights and looking at the other dude like it is HIS fault.....then they shift way too soo and slow.......

i personally think im a okay driver, dropped it around 3-4k rpm, and i shift really fast at 7.8k rpm with never letting go of the accerator, and usually end up going to 8.1k rpm. my friend with a type r motor in a hatch was hitting 14.5. and even a greddy turboed GSR was hitting mid 14's. So i think its the track!

I ran my fastest time ever at Palmdale, I think theres something wrong with my car though, but i ran a 14.9 over there and i've never came close to that again.

But now theres oil leaks everywhere and i burn tons of oil so who knows..

yes, we ALL know Road and Track is the ultimate resource in track times right?

95GS-R should go read more magazines now

I ran a 15.3'a at Pomona Raceway, but since then at Palmdale, Carlsbad, and Fontana I can barely hit 15's now. And there is a guy out by me with a CRX with a b16 that does consistent 14.9's and I can hang with or beat him no problem. Geez, I'm at a total loss with these time differences...

I ran a 14.9 @ 92 MPH in Palmdale. Subtract 4 tenths and add 4 MPH to correct for altitude. At sea level I would be running around 14.5 @ 96 MPH.

Isn't this really bad for your tranny(powershifting). From what everyone else is saying, sounds like the track sux.

I know let's all just forget 1/4 mile times, Palmdale, Carlsbad, Fontana, and Pomona and all be real men and get out to Willow Springs, Button Willow, and Las Vegas Speedway...I wanna try that new course at the Fontana Speeway .
