I need some help preping a already painted bumper for new color...
I have a red rear bumper for my 98 ex that I guess needs to be sanded down, primered and repainted silber (I will not be painting it).
I would like to do the prep work on it and have it primered so all I have to do is get it sprayed.
What steps do I need to go about to get the coating off and ready to sprayed? I have never even got a toe wet in the body repair/restore department. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

if your gona have somebody primer it and paint it, you need to take the gloss of the stock paint with some 200-300grit sand paper, and if theres any nicks or scrapes they need to be featherd back with some 120 and filled in with a Flexible repaire material then block sanded flat with the rest of the bumper
i would suggest letting the painter primer it because you need to add a Flex agent to the primer and clear in order to get the paint to where it wont crack and pop off the first time you bend the bumper

Ok cool thanks for the replies. I still havent found the painter I want for it yet. Im very picky and dont want a crappy job done on it.
So I do I have to sand all the pain off or just the gloss? The bumper is currently red and will be going to VSM.
