Default RPM's shooting up at highway speeds?

Every once in a while at 3k RPM's on the highway, outa nowhere it will shoot up to 3.5k for a few seconds and then drop back down to 3k. Speed doesn't increase, just see it on the tach gauge and hear it in the exhaust. So is this a vacuum leak or something else??

Auto d16y8 btw. thanks!

hey, my tranny shifts nice and smooth, and i change the fluid using Honda ATF religiously.

so, you guys think its tranny related and not like just the engine revving by itself?

not accelerating when it happens, only at a constant speed (usually around 70 mph)

I would have to say its your clutch pedal adjustment. I had a truck that did this. You dont have to think your accelerating but you are holding the gas farther than idle. You should have like 1/2" of play before you feel the presure on your clutch pedel.

Could be that your AT fluid is a little low.
