i need a new tranny, will this work?
i have a 91 crx si with a zc swap and my tranny is bad. i have my 140,000mile si tranny with my zc right now. the tranny grindes 3rd and has a hard time going into 1st sometimes. my friend has a 89 civic si hatchback and he is doing a b16 swap. can i use his tranny. as long as i use his flywheel, right? any help would be great.

i think the only oddball of the trannies is the 1988 tranny..something about the splines or something not really sure....so it should work fine....
check your motor mounts first.. if the tranny one is bad, or the rear mount is bad/broken it will mess up your shift alignment, and will be hard to shift..

The Clutch plate diameter is dictated by the flywheel used thats what the clutch size has to match, the spline count is an issue with ONLY the 1988. I hava a ZC with a 1990 SL3 Si trans with the ZC Flywheel and a 9'1 112 mm clutch assy. in a 1989 Civic DX hatch.
Not at all, I have a DX AND a Si Trans BOTH with L3 on them. My understanding is the Difference between the DX and The Si Trans is the lower ring and pinion ratio with the Si. AND some bearing size issues, Si has beefier bearings.
