i think you just have to use his flywheel/clutch assembly with the tranny.

its your friend's stuff, so at least try it out!

It'll mate up just fine... use your 91 clutch/flywheel.

i think the only oddball of the trannies is the 1988 tranny..something about the splines or something not really sure....so it should work fine....

check your motor mounts first.. if the tranny one is bad, or the rear mount is bad/broken it will mess up your shift alignment, and will be hard to shift..

your tranny might be ok afterall

The Clutch plate diameter is dictated by the flywheel used thats what the clutch size has to match, the spline count is an issue with ONLY the 1988. I hava a ZC with a 1990 SL3 Si trans with the ZC Flywheel and a 9'1 112 mm clutch assy. in a 1989 Civic DX hatch.

Not at all, I have a DX AND a Si Trans BOTH with L3 on them. My understanding is the Difference between the DX and The Si Trans is the lower ring and pinion ratio with the Si. AND some bearing size issues, Si has beefier bearings.
