Default Search Function....are the archives gone?

I hope it's just me, but I can't get any archived stuff to work.
No Toda threads, spoon, etc.

Hope it's just temporary..maybe this was the moderator's response
to the board being stale, make us re-discuss everything..noooooo.

Search doesn't work for me about 95% of the time. Regardless of whether I'm searching in new topics or archived, I keep getting "nothing found". I even searched for topics that I just looked at and it didn't find those either. Am I just using it wrong? Maybe it's something with my computer. Just to test it out, I picked a few of the recent topics and typed in key words from both the topic and from the text inside, and still got nothing...argh!

"there's a glitch in the matrix"....

this morning the posts were being added out of order. I think the mods were fixing this and I think the old posts were taken off-line so they can fix the problem.

If you do a search now, you will get an automatic "no results found" response. I hope someone isn't sleeping at the wheel and is working on this.

Works for me, what are you guys talkin about?

Try more general terms and try multiple different names for one topic.

Good luck,

A.

Are you guys sure you know how to use search. It seems to work fine for me. When I use it, that is . Maybe someone should post some step by step directions.

Search doesn't work for me about 95% of the time.
I think this problem has to do with when the "Search in posts" function was removed. The regular search seems to only look in the titles of the posts and not all good discussions have good keywords in the title. I guess it was costing a lot of computing power for h-t, so the "search in posts" option was removed. *shrugs* It's really too bad, because there are a lot of good posts that are hard to find now.

1 Grey Teg AND PYTypeR..

Type in Toda, and limit it to Integra Type R, AND Archived topics.
Nothing!

It doesn't get more general than that.
Post some step by steps wise guys.
I'll follow them, seriously, because I have some reading I want to do!
I actually like the search function.

Several months ago the search used to REALLY suck. It came up with nothing, even if you searched for something like "civic" in the civic forum. Then it slowly got pretty good, and I was able to find all sorts of stuff. Now it seems to be back to no good.

well since i posted in the members corner and the zeroforum and nobody answered, maybe i should make my suggestion here.. in addition to the "Recent/Archived" topics there could be a third one that searches both recent and archived so we don't have to do a search twice..

Something definitely changed -- I was looking at opinions on clutches and headers over the past couple days, so I know for sure that searches that used to yield lots of hits are now yielding nothing. I'm glad this happened after I bought a clutch...

I like the idea of a third option for searching everything. Seems stupid to me to have to do two searches. At least default to archives, since I usually want to know general consensus on things, not just recent consensus.

Why not get one of those major search engines instead of a custom one? Many sites I've see just use Google or something like that, which works great.

Okay... Look at the title of this topic:

"Search Function....are the archives gone?"

I did a search for the word archives in recent topics in the Integra Type R forum, and it said nothing was found.

I would say the search function is not working properly.

this has been happening to me almost constantly. i've only gotten the search function to work for me on a rare occasion. how's this procedure

1. typed in "Search Function" <-- notice that it's the topic of this post!!!
2. tried both archived and new
3. "no posts found"

arghh!
