Bastard build!!!!!!!!!
its been done i just want some info on it ... its been called the bastard build .. and why... because i have a b16 short block and ls head do the math .... good turbo motor so i've been told
What makes it a good turbo engine (honest question)? Seems like you're taking away the good parts of each engine and putting the rest together.
With something this uncommon I would try to contact the people who have done it. Or look at ls/vtec writeups and try to figure what you'd have to do.

I guess its called the bastard build because if you did that people would yell "You bastard you just ruined a good short block and head, and now have a motor that won't even work!"
If your motor even did work it would be a silly setup 1.6L nonvtec poor flowing head. That wants to rev but won't gain anything from reving.

Agreed, a high r/s ratio block with a crappy head doesnt make a good motor. Nor is it necessarily a "good" turbo motor. Sure you can throw a turbo on it but the LS block is usually the more desired one due to the larger displacement and sleeves. It'll work but it will have lower torque and maybe roughly the same hp than a stock LS.

Torque-less B16a block with a head that cant flow worth **** (compared to dohc vtec heads)..You should do it though just for the hell of it and dyno it..Im geussing you;ll have to take it to the machine shop to the get the B16A block to except the B18a/b head..
why would i have to take it to a machine shop? if you can put a b16 head on a b18 block why would'nt you be able to put a b18 head on a b16 block?...... I dunno i just think it has potential with a port job, bigger cams , i mean with all the b16 short blocks laying around and all the b18b and b18a heads laying around someones gotta figure something out to do with all these parts lol.... i mean if you put ls pistons and have the b16 rods shot peened to make them stronger then you could have a pretty nice engine for the Price of pretty well nothing its just left over's and just think if you beat a few guys asses with it ... would'nt they think twice lol i dunno guys i just wanna see what some who has it has to say bout it ...
also just checked the compression ratio its 8:2:1 if you use b18 pistons and if you use the b16 pistons 9:7:1 or so the little website says
http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php so if you use the ls pistons and a port and polish job and bigger cams im sure it could work with turbo

Here's some more info on it:

Basically it's a motor I would use if a friend of mine did an LS/VTEC and I just needed a daily driver. Cheap or free motor that works, depending how cool your friends are
Not exactly a fire breather though.

8.2:1 ratio is still a little low for a turbo setup...
Honestly, don't waste your time. Buy a B18 block and do LS Turbo. get more torque, more hp and those engines already have decent compression for a mild turbo setup.

probaly a little bit slower and torquless than a stock b18a1
sounds like someone did an ls/vtec and gave you the *** end... what tranny do you have? it would be better than an a6 though and you can always buy a b16 head and build it up really good with some springs valves cams and machine work and throw it on later
expletive haters i would do it if i got it for the right price just to get a b-series in my car.
non the less its a bseries so its a decent platform

It would be cheaper and better to use a good D.
Yes the motor can work but its really a cobbled together pile of junk.
Either save up for LS block or b16 head or you can sell your parts and get a D.
As for putting the parts together its not just a bolt up deal with lsvtec either minor work as listed on the link will tell you what is needed.

i deffinitly would not go out and buy this setup but if someone said here... you can have this b16 block and this ls head in the back of my garage for $50 i would deffinitly do it.. .sell the d-series in my car and start putting together a bad *** head... than throw it on it
this way i would have a daily driver and could take my time and put the head together the right way
i wouldint keep that setup but none the less once its in the car you can grow from it from what i read in the other thread all you have to do is switch the dowel pins... it cant cost that much to take it to a machine shop and have them do it
just while its in the car with the ls head dont expect a whole lot more power than teh d-series that is in your car now

I see what you mean I just feel its really a waste to throw effort into this but I would agree a B is alot better platform just not these parts

yeah guys that pretty well what happened i got a b16 short block for 50 bills and am work on getting an ls head just to get a bseries in my crx i know its not the greatest but untill i can get a vtec head this is what im going to try i think i'll do a write up on it for people who end up with parts like i have

Really I dont see why not use it.You can gather the parts for a case of beer or maybe $100 if your not a godd haggler and you have a Bseries that is still better than having a D16.Boost it and call it a day.
